I'm stuck in a captcha loop...
If you're using Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) as your upstream DNS or Firefox's DoH (which defaults to Cloudflare as its resolver) then archive.is links won't work. See https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=19828702 for context.
I've never thought much about DNS. I started using 8.8.8.8 back when Google was still synonymous with "best of the Internet."

Reading that link makes me more likely to switch to Cloudflare, not less. (tl;dr of the link: archive.is intentionally returns garbage to CF DNS because CF won't leak privacy details.)

So… he’s not running for President ? :-/
People are out of ideas.
> People are out of ideas.

This seems like a non sequitor.

Highly paid people don't mind when a big chunk comes out of the bottom line after making choices, as long as they aren't vilified. The Daily Show has been unwatchable since Noah started, imo. The switchup is implied to blamed on the leadership (producers), rather than admitting he's not as likeable or savvy as Stewart. Stewart is still considered favored, so he's going to take over part of it.

Just on Mondays. The rest of the week will be a rotating cast.

NY Times has no ability to filter notifications. So “earthquake kills everyone in California” buzzes my phone the same way that some stupid roided up horse winning a “race” does. It’s very annoying.
Oh no! I know thousands of people in California and there are at least a dozen I like!
Awful. One of the best things about Stewart is that (I thought) he was smart enough to step out when he was done. Now it’s going to be an old tired man making out of touch japes about two even older tired men.
This is a very unkind description of what Stephen Colbert has become.
I haven’t kept up but sad if so. Colbert was always at his best when he brought lots of himself to the show, in contrast with Stewart who was great at capturing public vibes.
Yeah, he was checked out by 2012. The only reason no one noticed how many jokes he was reusing or how many personas he was recycling was because his supporting cast was so unbelievably talented. For example, Jason Jones got an interview with Gorbachev[0] in 2014, something no one had been able to do in years at that point.

Maybe you are out of touch.
Probably both true, I would not recommend myself for the role either.
hallelujah! so happy to see him back
I was sad he departed before the Trump election. I can't but help but feel we might have had president Hillary if he'd hung on.
His new show was alright. Still a good watch, but very, very far from recreating the Daily Show magic. Apparently he left because of disagreements/censorship by Apple, so let's see what he is able to do on his original chair.
It was well known in the industry (and, I think, obvious to anyone who knows Apple) that they filter content strongly by turn of the century standards and avoid any controversy. I wonder why he went with them.
Probably went cause of the freedom. He practically got a blank check from them and got to do almost whatever he felt like. Unfortunately Apple and the others are too big where they can’t be political and since they depend on certain governments “freedoms” it gets dicey as we head into an era of neo-brinksmanship.
Rachel Maddow is also only on Monday. Her and Stewart are very focused on how bad a Trump second term would be, but they're preaching to the choir with me. I don't need to keep being convinced so I have no reason to watch them. Who is there intended audience? Is there any American on the fence about Trump at this point? I used to be a big fan of Maddow but now she's just tiresome.
Not sure why you're getting down voted. Honestly, I don't find Trump funny, I find him and his ilk terrifying. There's not a whole lot to laugh about there. And who can be convinced? Are there really people on the fence?
What would be an interesting show from Stewart or Maddow is if they hooked up with a cult deprogrammer and attempted to pull out some die hard MAGA members before they drank the Kool Aid in Novemeber. That would be convincing.
It's not about helping anyone decide anything. Or about news.

It's about fearmongering for ratings. And the MSM's biggest money-maker is not Maddow or Stewart, but one Donald J. Trump.

wouldn't say I'm on the fence per se, but I'm starting to think Biden might lose, especially with the rift on the left over us supporting Israel against Palestine. I'm not a Biden fan but I'm much less a trump fan, God I wish Stewart would run for president.
Seconded. I'm not even American but someone kind of sane and normal would be good. I'm not sure what Biden is thinking with the southern border issue. If it keeps like it is then Trump will win.
