Ask HN: What is a decent US state to create an LLC in?

2 points by santy-gegen ↗ HN
Hi Hacker News,

I'm santy and i'm not from the US.

I'd like to create an LLC with Stripe Atlas (Yc Company).

I understand that stripe creates the registered agent in Delaware for me, but I can still use stable (another YC company) to get a permanent business address in any other US state.

I'm quite ignorant as to what is best. Should I also pick Delaware? Or is there a trick? Maybe Wyoming is a good idea?

I'm sorry about my ignorance and quite grateful for any info.

Great, thank you so much for replying and helping me out build confidence in building this project!
These might not be specific to Stripe.

South Dakota for personal use. Delaware for corporate. Nevada for secrecy.

I would make a chart of what features you desire then fill it in with information from the possible states.

Thanks for the info! It's very kind of you to help a complete stranger over the internet. I'm super grateful.

So if I pick Delaware it would be reasonable choice?

I just want to keep things simple and be able to charge customers with stripe.

Delaware FTW. Check out Stripe Atlas and its competitors!
Hi Adam,

Thanks for the info and the enthusiasm.

I'm going with Delaware as address and Stripe as service.

I found it to be the most recommended combination overall.

Btw, nice music you've got there. Found you on spotify :)
