Ask HN: Why doesn't archive.is work for me anymore?

DAE have problems with archive.is (or the alt CC TLDs) links? They have been unusable for me for months. I get stuck doing captchas.

Safari and Chrome, "standard" and incognito windows, all 4 have the same problem. I have multiple ISP to choose from, plus my cell data, all of them fail. The badges on my various blocker exts all show no content blocked.

def not a problem with my "network" or other hosts on my network, as the captcha page claims -- i have a static IP on all my connections (except cell).

but it does work perfectly from mobile safari on the same network.

Did you switch to Cloudfare's DNS? IIRC archive.is blocks their DNS servers.

I believe it has something to do with tracking, or rather with anti-tracking measures. I don't know how it works, but as you say different browsers and even different firefox profiles (with different addons set) could lead to different results. I believe, that the more paranoid I go with anti-tracking the more chance for me to stuck in a capcha loop.

The issue comes not just on archive.is but some other sites as well. Sometimes I get just a statement that my browser is too old or something like that.
