Ask HN: Is DoD worried about Boeings military contracts due to civilian issues

The civilian side of Boeing has been going through a long set of serious to catastrophic quality / maintenance / design issues for at least the last 3 years.

Unfortunately, it appears that there is still more to come.

Should / is the DoD concerned about the military side of Boeing also experiencing serious quality / maintenance / design?

I have not read about any Boeing military aircraft problems but I might well have missed it.

As far as I understand it, a lot of the military aircrafts are versions / adaptations / variants of civilian aircrafts and they might have started life in the same manufacturing process as the regular civilian models?

There is this ongoing disaster

which you don't hear as much carping as you could because the USMC seems less inclined to complain when it gets ripped off by contractors as other military branches.

Yeah this has been going on a for a long time with that specific airplane. But what about all the others.

I watched a recording of President Biden arriving in somewhere in eastern US by helicopter.

I was surprised to see at least 4 V22 Osprey used as part of the massive protection detail.

Given their tendency to crash, I figured it would not be considered safe around Potus.

But at least 2 POTUS have been transported in one during specific trips usually to war zones or at least places the US has military amred conflicts.

I was surprised by that as well.
