Not adding this to say "the Malaysians can't make doors." Pretty sure they're able to make doors as well as anyone from South Carolina. Just thinking that the international supply chain will complicate the NTSB's investigation.
Sure, but this is fairly irrelevant: based on what's known publicly so far, the far more pertinent fact is the four bolts were reportedly removed during maintenance and mistakenly not put back.
Where was the door fitted and where are compliance checks performed. Half a million inputs to the aircraft come from overseas sources, I haven't seen a strong signal counterfeit artefacts are suspected, what I read focuses on bolts and checks.
Yeah but the bolts that were supposed to hold it in weren't installed in Malaysia. Well I guess they weren't installed in Seattle either, but thats where they were supposed to be installed. (Taking at face value the anonymous poster at [1].)
where the door was made : we don't care.
we KNOW (because when building a plane, EVERYTHING is paper-traced with each worker having his/her own personal stamp to put on those papers) that the plane structure and door was build WITH THE BOLTS in place...
the plane structure was then moved to Boeing and they DID NOT put the bolts back when they worked on it.
an insider has already put that information out... so the only company at faut here is (1) not the builder of the door nor the structure, (2) spirit built the structure and the door WITH the bolts in place and (3) boeing screwed up.
