This should go for everyone regardless of the current economic conditions:

If your company is involved in a merger or acquisition then you should set a mental timer and expect to leave that company before 365 days. The second the merger is announced you should begin resume and professional hygiene.

Do not get caught flat footed. Chances are you'll still have a job there after a year, but the cost of the M&A will come from employees first.

Phew! I'm so glad that Microsoft bought them. To think that some people thought that consolidation would be bad for consumers and bad for employees!
