Nice post! Definitely subscribed to this feed. I'm building a modular synth and currently working on a VCO based on the CEM-3340's which have, for reasons I don't know, some fine folks have been making again.
I love the AY-3-8910, can't wait to see how this turns out.

I really don't understand why chip resellers re-mark chips like this. It's always obvious and it gives me the idea that they have something to hide. I've paid more for obviously used chips that I can tell are genuine than "new"/"refurbished" examples like the ones in this article.

"Show HN" implies that it has been built and that there's something for people to try out, or at least look at—so I've taken "Show HN" out of the title now. See https://news.ycombinator.com/showhn.html.

Not a criticism—it's a fine post otherwise! And of course you can make a Show HN out of it when things get to that stage.
