Coke vs Pepsi, Ford Vs GM, iPhone vs Android, any football team vs any other, and now EV vs Gasoline

I wonder if anyone has ever done a study on what makes humans take such viral extreme positions on things. I see some of the Vinal vs MP3 and film vs digital arguments playing out in my lunchroom between otherwise rational people and I think the extreme advocates for one side, or another are just doing a disservice to themselves.

Acupuncture versus western medicine, we saw how that worked out for Steve Jobs. Were his western medicine doctors who he pushed off until it was too late, extremists in your book?

I wonder if anyone has done a study about why some people just cling to apathy as a life philosophy. Not talking about Steve Jobs, but about people who pose questions like yours.

It’s like… it’s almost as though there are reasons for different positions. Remarkable but true.
