In fact in one of the many various interviews with cast over the years I seem to recall it being mentioned as required reading prior to filming.

Though the movie doesn't really seem to actually understand the main thesis of the book at all! Up to the point Baudrillard himself denounced it as a misunderstanding of his work. [0]
