Voluntary Disclosures on US job applications are used to audit classes of hires. If 90% of your applicants are women, you'd expect 90% of your hires to be.
When I select a classification, that race/ethnic/gender should be weighted more heavily in hiring decisions. Thereby I am expressing a preference, which the company then acts on.

When you say “should”, do you mean that is what you expect happens, or do you mean that is ideally what would happen?
