Saw a TikTok earlier where someone drops it on its face, and then takes off the shattered "cover". It shatters clean, containing all of the glass in a unit that doesn't cut you, and it's still perfectly usable once that cover is removed.
I wonder how much Apple would charge to replace that glass cover. Since it's only glued around the edges and has no active components bonded to it (unlike most phone screens) it shouldn't be too difficult or expensive in the grand scheme of things, but who knows what the mark-up is like.
one arm, one leg, and, if you did not buy apple care plus, one thigh
I just realised that people are probably going to end up wrapping their Vision Pros in hideous TPU cases aren't they. Like phones, where the "premium" glass backs end up entombed in cheap rubber because the "premium" material is slippery and explodes if you drop it.
maybe when they become more wide spread and more clumsy kids use them
You mean the video where he drops it dozens of times, after banging it into a wall, and it doesn't shatter until a 10ft ceiling drop?!

Incredible how glass is being doped, these days. Materials science would be a wonderful career for the aspriring, but directionless, young chap.

Looking at the full video on Youtube, I believe that was drop #8. (the Tiktok was a clip from that larger video)
