A big threat I see is those people talking about growth, when it becomes increasingly likely that we just won't replace fossil fuels (hoping for fusion won't change that). Because fossil fuels are limited, we will end up having less and less energy, which implies less growth.
We need to prepare to slow down. Do less with less. We don't need to find ways to grow more, because growth is the cause of the biodiversity problem.
I used to think the growth stuff, consumption culture, conspicuous leisure etc would reduce as boomer leaders retire or die off. But even next gen CEOs and leaders are basically still pushing the same drugs - "we gotta give people what they want. They want more we give them more" - this type of shit I have heard in multiple meetings and I have no idea how it's going to change.

Either we as a society make it change while we can still save something, or it will change by force and it will hurt us really badly.
