Does Amazon advertise in the Washington Post?
Does Amazon own the Washington Post? No, Bezos does, and he doesn't own Amazon. Meanwhile the WaPo runs articles like this: https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/interactive/2022/a...
Another difference is that Amazon buys gobs of advertising all over the place and I'd bet their ad buy on WaPo are on arms-length terms any other ad buyer would get. Amazon will spend more on ads today than Tesla spent all year in 2022.

Tesla has gone for a long time buying no ads at all.

How is that controversial? X is desperate for advertisers who haven’t been scared away by the ADL. Its probably super cheap to advertise there right now.
To state the obvious: conflict of interest. Tesla isn’t just an advertiser looking for a good deal on ads. Musk has previously said he doesn’t believe in advertising. Tesla doesn’t advertise. But it does on X now, somehow.
