Ask HN: What do you use to download videos? 9 points by ravshan 2y ago ↗ HN Sometimes I want to download a video, but there is no download option most of the time. How do you download videos?
[–] kuschkufan 2y ago ↗ ytp-dl for everything [–] ravshan 2y ago ↗ Is that an executable? Isn't there an extension which can do it? The ones I searched from chrome store don't seem to work. [–] Am4TIfIsER0ppos 2y ago ↗ It can be. It is a python program from here https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp [–] techietim 2y ago ↗ The correct spelling is yt-dlp: https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp

[–] mtmail 2y ago ↗ https://deturl.com/ or rather when you type in a URL is will link to another 10 tools https://deturl.com/www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVBsypHzF3U
[–] palashkulsh 2y ago ↗ Literally Using ffmpeg to download m3u8 videos these days. Whenever they need a header i proxy that url via nginx
[–] sircastor 2y ago ↗ Synology’s download manager - which is an amalgamation of tools, but for video it’s ytp-dlIt works great.
[–] leros 2y ago ↗ I pay for YouTube premium and Nebula which both let me download videos. I use it to save videos for when I travel. I also sometimes live off grid with a Starlink and I'll download videos so I can turn Starlink off to save power.
