Ask HN: How do you speak to AI assistants? Does it affect how you treat people?

I'm not really thinking of careful and advanced prompt engineering here. I'm wondering, conversationally, what kind of language you use with a chatbot.

I catch myself wanting to be polite, wanting to say please and thank you like I would to any human. At first, I thought I should correct that. It's not a human, and I don't want to blur the lines any more than will start to happen naturally.

On the other hand, training myself to be curt or even rude in one specific context seems likely to bleed over into my human conversations (especially written, online) as well. I don't really want to reinforce pathways in my brain that say "It's fine to reply to some text on the internet without consideration of the feelings of the author," even if I'm doing it by responding to an author that doesn't have feelings.

So how about you? How do you talk to your AI assistants? Have you found it to have any impact on how you treat people?
