Ask HN: Any terminal/console client to GPT?

2 points by thriftwy ↗ HN
I would like something that I could ask

    # gpt How to patch KDE2 under FreeBSD
and get a text answer from ChatGPT or similar.

It would be OK to logon once but no logon every time and wait in the line bullshit, as every one of web-based GPT UIs seem to operate. I don't really care which specific GPT would that be if it's decent.

A few have been mentioned[1] here on HN. I haven't tried any of them myself, but I have written some code to interface with the ChatGPT interface. It looks like a pretty easy thing to write a simple command line wrapper, so I expect you will find several such projects on Github as well. Wish I could recommend something specific from experience, but the truth is I was kinda planning to just write my own such tool for myself, so haven't bothered with any of the publicly available ones.
