"Alexei Navalny was tortured and assassinated by the dictator he was resisting."

I don't think AP should change the headline, but it's somehow still galling to read "has died" as though it wasn't a political assassination.

Reads like more of a death of neglect than "tortured and killed". Sure, the whole thing is a sham and the intent was for him to die in prison, but it sounds like they treated him in a relatively respectful + dignified way.
This is a very common tactic in journalism nowadays, you can often tell the bias of the article by whether they say "died after X encounter" vs "killed by X".

Not saying that this particular instance has a strong bias, but in general it's interesting once you start noticing it.

This is constant. If the author agrees with something someone says, they'll say that the person "pointed out" something. If not, it's "claimed".

And so has Gonzala Lira.
So it's no unlike Epstein? (by that I mean there's doubt as to whether the death was natural or not)
I haven't yet seen the version where Epstein died of natural causes! Did I miss a good laugh?
I hope when Assange dies in prison we will have the same outrage in the media as today.

Yes. But not in the same media. /s

Journalists are hard working people who have a rent to pay, want to go on vacation and maybe have a family to feed.

So ... was he 'Epstein'ed? Or was he 'Gonzalo Lira'd? Or maybe even 'Seth Rich'ed? Surely he wasn't 'Assange'd.
Honestly? The guy came out from a far-right party, in 2007 he said the muslim immigrants should be squashed like cockroaches. Fine that he stood against the Putin government, but as a person I don't give a damn he died
