Ask HN: When was the last time you climbed a tree?

It strikes me that it's been 20 years since I climbed a tree. I used to climb them quite a bit ... and even figured out how to slide down the outside of my neighbor's 30 foot tall evergreen when I was a kid - which everybody seemed to take a dim view of :-)

Climbed a meter up a tree right before Christmas, as it's tradition in Norway to hang sheafs for birds to snack from.

Before Christmas. To obtain mistletoe.

Accepted method here is shotgun it down; it's usually way out on the skinny ends of the branches.

Couple years ago, the top of a cedar tree by our porch had broken but not fully separated. It finally fell over and blocked the line of sight of the satellite internet antenna; so i had to climb up and cut the top out.

Just "mounting" a tree, going a few feet up the trunk, doesn't count. I do that frequently as elderly cat has a route down from the roof using a tree in the yard. I commonly get a couple feet up that tree and collect her on her way down; she finds it embarrassing but not so much as falling the last couple feet.

"I din't fall, that was a jump!"

Went about 25 feet up a tree a few weeks back to retrieve a kitten which got stuck.
