The non-heterosexual making up nearly half of respondents, and more than double the number of women/perceived-women seems quite high. Is Rust just unusually popular in LGBT+ circles? Why?

Most of the other developer surveys (python, go) I've seen don't seem to collect this kind of representation data.

I might be wrong, but the wording of that question suggests it was only answered by people who consider themselves part of an underrepresented or marginalized group. So only a subset of the survey's responders answered.

This is also supported by the fact that the question was only completed by 1322 responders, which is about 10% of total responders.
