Weird how oil site cleanup/remediation programs and things like DAC are essentially an indirect subsidy for what should be a brownfield's lifetime cost.
No one wants to pay the true costs, because we’ve been coasting on externalities. When they come due, everyone will be sad.

Add a tax to every barrel of oil sold to pay off the remediation liability, it’s the only way it’ll get paid for besides federal grants (subsidizing this behavior).
