What if it’s contamination in the extraction or measurement equipment?
They seem to have addressed that pretty carefully.
Misleading title

Small plastic can slide down, that's why you can find it in the 300 year layer.

Did the title change? It currently is: “Downward migrating microplastics in lake sediments are a tricky indicator for the onset of the Anthropocene”

Little bit close minded that the scientists didn't consider the obvious alternative hypotheses: that those microplastics are relics of a lost, advanced civilization.
Clearly aliens.
This is why you need to be careful when time traveling.
Reminds me of that age old question... We find all these dinosaur fossils in mines for metals and fuel. It makes you wonder if they were just another bunch of animals, what were they all doing mining for industrial materials?
This is also why I am very suspicious of homicide detectives. Someone really ought to investigate these people who are always seen in the vicinity of a murder… I mean, that’s your prime suspect right there.
