This has been a LEGAL issue in Florida for about 18 months. The culture war in the state government has empowered anyone to be able to weaponize their dislike for differing opinions even if they are facts. So many professors are watering down their curriculum out of fear of persecution/reprimands. Students can report professors for teaching subjects or materials they find offensive to the state rather than handling such matters internally at the school.
I don't think their talking about THOSE opinions.
I can’t help but imagine exactly the kind of types with “legal and reasonable” critiques of critical race theory.

This piece doesn’t actually seem to elaborate on the IMPACT of this “lack of free speech”. People are being “shunned” for questioning DEI?

Hardly the Cultural Revolution, is it?

The report itself gives much more weight to the complaints of these academics: https://afcomm.org.uk/2024/02/22/caf-survey-reveals-climate-...

Still… if being “unable to mention” the academic a building used to be named after, is ranked as a problem big enough to mention, I struggle to find sympathy.

There are bigger threats to free speech than “lots of DEI posters in a department building”.

Evidently his speech wasn't that restricted, still able to post a rambling blog on the matter.
Some states in the USA are rapidly moving towards Taliban like extremism and I don't think I'm exaggerating. From a European standpoint it always was easy to joke about 'those crazy book burning Americans' but I think it's past the point of being funny as real people are being harmed now.

With lots of christians being major hypocrites (a majority appears to vote for Trump, a self professed apathetic sinner) I wonder if they really have those christofascist beliefs or if they are just abusing the ruleset in a fading religion in order to gain power. As an atheist it's easy to conclude they are angering people enough to set themselves apart in order to gather enough votes for carrying out their corporate sponsores agendas.

Are there true American christians here who care enough to enlighten me?

Someone needs to write a time-to-Godwin's-law browser plugin. In this case, three paragraphs.

No wiki page, they must be new.

Associated Ltd company had two officers, second is Anna Loutfi, who is also legal director of the Bad Law Project, which is one of Laurence Fox's vehicles.

I'm shocked, shocked I tell you.

Anyone make sense of the bit referencing the Stasi?
