this is yet another reason why we need go back to self-hosting and indieweb movement. To own our own platforms and content and keep them away from just being sold like that. That's a disgusting move by Automattic.
I mean most people who care about it & are tech-savvy enough are either self-hosting already... or, realizing (after spending way too much time on getting something running securely), they don't care that much after all.
photomatt frequently shows up in HN discussions covering Automattic. I wonder whether he will this time.
Automattic was on my (very short) "good guys against all odds" list, not sure whether they still are after this. But I guess the world isn't so black and white - money has to come in somehow.
