Curious, why did you forgoe core data? (Funny post btw.)

Interesting points, thanks for posting. For others reading, it's worth noting that Apple will continually improve upon Core Data. For instance, iCloud integration in iOS 5.0, which deals with conflict resolution, etc. Worth considering if you're thinking about rolling your own low-level connection.
