Show HN: I made an app for very cheap STEM tutoring, YouTube Q&A style (explanations.app)

I made an app for extremely cheap STEM tutoring Outreach I struggled a lot in my STEM classes as an undergrad, despite going to Office Hours, lining up, signing up for campus tutoring etc. On the other hand, there are so many great Youtubers who explain things really wells; you often see comments "you explained it better in 5 minutes than my professor in 10 weeks".

Now that I graduated, I made an app where you can directly ask Youtube teacher questions - the ones that explain things really clearly & simply - and get blackboard videos as replies.

The fact it's not a traditional 1-on-1 format, but a Youtube Q&A format, means you can still get your particular questions answered, and it's MUCH cheaper because of cost-sharing: e.g. $10/month.

I already made a prototype.

If this is relevant to you:

1. For those who are struggling in a class, I'd love to hear your thoughts on your biggest pain points - would you be willing to tell me by a) replying to this thread b) DM me c) via a 15 min. Zoom call?

2. If you want to try it now, email me elton@alum.mit.edu and we can schedule a call to get setup. I already convinced private tutors (who were open-minded to try this cost-sharing format) Esther (her example youtube here) to teach physics e.g. electromagnetism, and Ben (his example youtube here) to teach math e.g. calculus, statistics, linear algebra.
