Not detailed enough. They di this with an ant-competitive OEM contract clause requiring OEM's to only ship systems whose bootloaders would boot to Windows by default.
The CEO of Be tried to testify in the MS antitrust action on the bootloader issue, but the prosecutors were not willing to alter the case to include it.
This breaks my heart as someone currently digging into the bootloader and embedded space. Truly wish 20 years ago this issue would have gotten the attention it deserved.
