Known outages for Meta products, all our google oauth also running into 500s suddenly and weird timeouts on other google services

We are also seeing Google OAuth timing out and 500s.

This is with our own product that allows Login with Google, so not related in anyway to Meta Outage.

Seems like a big coincidence that Facebook login is down at the same time. What could be going on?

My outlandish theory is foreign election interference. Not a tin foil hat guy, but being Super Tuesday the thought crossed my mind

What's the theory here, other than two things occurring on the same day? By knocking out Facebook.... Haley gets an advantage? If anything, foreign interference would be Russians helping Trump, and he doesn't seem to need help now given that the GOP voters seem firmly in his pocket.

Stochastic terrorisim. Get people afraid because “things don’t work right”. Cause fear and doubt about life in general and have it associated with the election.

So we shouldn't hire interns around the elections or during one. Because the mistakes they create is common cause of these events that some will describe as stochastic terrorism.

Not to say that this would be one. It just these theories usually jumb over simpler and more common reasons ( humans do make mistakes).

Seems to be related to Facebook being down. For some users, Facebook asks to log in with Google instead.

Not seeing any updates on the status dashboard, but Google Workspace apps aren't loading properly for me.

Seems like things are "working", just super slow and timeouts, so maybe they're above some threshold for making a SLA reportable outage
