I need to do some research on this, and I'd love to hear thoughts. I just bought a house. House is 9 years younger than my current one, and 3 miles over.
Since climate doesn't change in 3 miles (at least not here) I put in the same $ of monthly payments.
Solar: $10 / month more expensive. Yes I know electricity is going up, but on the other hand, this was like the bare minimum amount of panels to wipe out my bill and it didn't include any batteries.
Putting on solar means that the cost of putting in new tarp paper (which we need every 10-15 years) here in Phoenix goes up a lot. And since we have the Nuclear Palo Verde Generating Station nearby, which keeps the cost relatively low, I wonder if it's all worth it.
