While odds are you are telling the truth that nothing is stored, there is still no way I'd ever trust a rando server on the internet to be a middleman to transfer files between my devices.
Absolutely, neither would I (and yet I use gmail) my intention is to drop this off at github at some point (when I have implemented E2E encryption) and let people host it themselves. It's only a few lines, so it should be rather easy to audit before self-hosting it.

I made it mostly for myself (since I have no problem trusting my own server), but thought the concept was neat enough that I'd share the idea.

Yep, good plan - that would definitely resolve the concerns.
