Let's make a deal - Assange gets a pardon or summary dismissal based on the 1st amendment, and all the message board commentators insisting for decades that the US Government isn't out to do him dirty get to say "I told you so".
That would be a huge win for both Assange and the credibility of America. Let's hope.
Their plan was ALWAYS to wait until he was forgotten by people enough to pull this trick.
Speaking as an Australian, it's absolutely despicable that Australia has completely abandoned Assange, an Australian citizen. Disgusting.
It’s not a good look for the US either. What is the US’s jurisdiction? Dragging in a foreign journalist who has not set foot on US soil TMK to be charged with crimes yet everyone here is inundated with foreign spam communications and millions of dollars stolen from US citizens every year. It shows where priorities are.
Especially when all the leaks were republished by all the American news agencies, with no consequences.
Can't edit now but I should have written "published", not "republished". Assange didn't even publish the leaks himself.
