Incredibly rude to ask "Do you speak X?", at a place or event where X is the de facto language, to anyone. Unfortunately a lot of us who aren't the AMD CEO have to live with this every fucking day.
She handled it like a pro, immediate pivot back to AMD

Jeez, what an ignorant question to ask random people…

Probably the guy doesn't know her so it's just a random Asian looking person to him. Seems like some Formula 1 sports event, I guess it could happen that someone doesn't speak English although it remains a possibility, theorized by anchormen in the studio yet never so far observed in the wild.

Or maybe the reporter DID recognize her and got so anxious that was the only thing he could think of as an opening line: "Do you speak English?". Probably same thing he uses in the bar to start a conversation with the girl sitting at the counter sipping from a cocktail :))

At least he didn't go Pulp Fiction on her: English, Mother*** Do you speak it? http://programming-motherfucker.com/ :))
