I have tried Sonoma a couple of times already but Spotlight and searching across the system always breaks in bizarre ways - I cannot search even in system preferences, not to mention mail and finder - so I've always returned to Ventura. It's really a failed release from my perspective. Anyone with similar experience?
For a certain definition of "undo", yes. The System volume tends to be mounted read-only and very little people go through the effort of mutating it. So in most cases, you can invoke softwareupdate(1) to download an older OS installer then run the installer to replace your existing OS.
I updated my M2 MacBook Pro and the USB-C hub on my Dell U3219Q monitor no longer works... it's been a substantial disruption to my workflow with external peripherals and I don't have a USB-A to C converter to even partially get back on my feet with my external mouse/keyboard (that was the monitor hub's job!)
I believe this update also made copy/paste functionality from terminals unreliable. I usually use iterm, but i got the same behavior when i switched to the builtin terminal app. It used to be that highlighting text with the mouse automatically made it available for pasting into another terminal -- no C-c required. Now sometimes it behaves that way and sometimes demands C-c.

Ouch, I can't find this in any release notes. This was a huge advantage of Mac OS for me.
Also, Java breaking means I cannot work. Thankfully I have decided to read HN today. I will definitely skip this update on my work machine.
