I am no expert in WWII era politics, but a big part of what led to WWII had been fierce nationalism within Europe that made it start drawing lines. That still exists, but there's both more outlets for competition and more opportunities for collaboration via the Eurozone. Plus, the ultra rich cross borders and have zero interest in a big global war.
