Why Does the World Exist?
I brought this conversation up a few years ago -- and the general discussion was insightful and the feedback I got was priceless so I decided to do this again. HN - why does the world exist? What is matter and energy? If there is a God - who created him/her and why does he/she exist? Show me your answers. I want to hear them.

1. afaik, monotheistic god is never she in any major religion, there are number of philosophical and other reasons behind it
2. the most logical and non contradictory answer i've come to so far (who knows what future will bring) to the question "why is there something other than nothing?" is that something uncreated has decided or made such a choice. Or even dropped a coin, but coins dont drop by themselves.
3. the greek "unmoved mover" if you like. This resolves the recursive problem (who created the creator?)
4. In other words to have anything relative - there must be something absolute.
5. If this absolute made a choice to have something - this absolute is a person (at least to some degree by our human standards).
6. God as a bearded guy somewhere on the cloud or in the end of the universe - is a naive dumb strawman version of god that pseudo-theologists like Dawkins/Harris exploit over and over to look smarter than they are and sell books/tours.
7. Atheism as a faith in the absence of god is functionally indistinguishable from religious radicalism.
Because the same way we can not prove the existence of God, we can't really _prove_ the absence of something like God. And religious radicalists believe not so much in god but rather in some specific set of interpretations (which are technically not God).
And they make these interpretations and their self-righteousness the focus of their faith, not the god. Same way so called atheists make dogma out of their beliefs and enjoy hating and mocking believers so much.
So strictly speaking you either a believer or an agnostic. If you stay within rational domain.
Thanks for existing and keeping it interesting. If you’re AH *u tho fr lol
Existence can also be seen as causation. Everything within existence has a cause and an effect. The rain comes from the clouds, the clouds come from the sea, the sea comes from the rivers, the rivers come from the mountains, etc. But causation itself doesn't have a cause or effect, because all causes and effects are concepts within causation.
Also think of the speed of light. The closer you get to it, the faster time goes for you. At the speed of light, there is no time anymore, and everything is in one moment. We are zoomed in on this oneness existence and viewing it from different perspectives, which we perceive as spacetime.
