It often seems like our "scientific authorities" live so far up their over-specialized butts that they couldn't communicate "fizzy drinks can give you bigger burps" to 9-year-old boys. And are so disingenuous that they couldn't admit "sharks and hypothermia actually exist" to someone standing on the deck of the sinking Titanic.
Then there's the far-too-frequent problem of the medical establishment's systematic misogyny, and "shut up and suffer, bitch" attitude toward female patients who fail to quickly respond in whatever ways would best serve the doctors' tender and hypertrophied egos...
