It will be interesting to see, whether Affinity will switch to subscriptions in the service. Officially "it's not planned".

Honestly, expect the worst here. Even if they don’t announce as such, it is most definitely in the minds of every executive walking around there.

I loved that affinity hadn't jumped on the subscription bandwagon, I hope that they maintain their philosophy.

The beginning of the end for a one-off license it appears. I don't see why Canva would green-light V3 as a non-subscription service. And that makes me wonder if Canva will be able to compete with the likes of Adobe/Figma/Sketch.

The wording of the announcement is basically a forewarning that change is going to come sooner or later. I don't see this as a "charitable acquisition" by Canva.
