Google Nerfs long-standing long press Home button for Circle to Search

I got Circle to Search on my Pixel today and am shocked they decided to have it take over an old, common function: Holding down the hold button, which has always launched Google Assistant.

The idea that disrupting a long-held UX by a company like Google is really surprising.

On top of that, in the age of AI and chat-like solutions, the idea that the core way to access Assistant functionality would be replaced is completely shocking.

Though Circle to Search is just now rolling out, lots of people on the Google Support forums are torqued, and I suspect others will be too as the feature roles out to more and more people.

Is this something that bothers/concerns you?

I turn off assistant - this will just be another thing to disable. I don't even use Google search anymore.

I want to bring all my data home again off cloud and when I do that I'll stop using all their services entirely.
