Advice on how to manage a small technical team?

i manage a small team of engineers (2 frontends and 4 backends). we are about to start a large project that needs both frontend and backend development. i'm thinking about having the whole team work on the project and i'm wondering if that's a good idea (i'm thinking that sometimes more people make projects slower instead of faster). any experience doing something similar?
