At least you can import skins and double the original size, maybe for some screens, it should be triple...
Ironically enough, I installed the soft on my computer last Monday and used a Gunnm skin I used still I stopped listening music on my computer, nostalgia++
Though neither is this thing, to be fair. This thing (ReAMP) is Russian too, so no thanks given the lack of long, reputable history unlike 7-Zip or WinRAR.
I prefer IINA as a simplistic music player for macOS (https://iina.io). Let me recommend its "mini player" view (activated with ⌥⌘M), showing the track list and hiding the cover.
hahah is funny seeing that posted here... Re:AMP is one of the first downloads/installations in any of my macOS environments in order to completely avoid the utilisation of Apple Music wrt playback of my local music library (my friend Luci created the icon that is currently used for the app, may be worth the time to take a look at her other work: https://twitter.com/luciascarlet/highlights)
Firstly im very cautious of any "single-dev" built side project, and when its closed source im even more aware of the dangers installing. And with russia in 2024 i cant trust any software produced over there. So, combine all three (close-source, single dev and russia) and you have a something really suspicious.
I'd say the opposite, xz proved how much effort it is to actually backdoor widely used open-source software as opposed to something where the Russian government (or another one) can just go knocking.
Nothing is perfect of course but the attack was insane in terms of complexity.
That Russian dude has -ko in his surname. And the project hadn't been updated since 2020.
While your suspicions are fairly justified, this player doesn't look like a nation-state attack vector.
I must tell to every username out here who implying negative attitude only by pointing out that this is Russian made, you have been conditioned by mass media to become russophobic [1] you must understand that your attitude rooted in propaganda spread by institutions and not in objective reality.
I remember the heated discussions in the Toptal.com Slack group where some very vocal Ukrainian members were arguing for a total exclusion of all Russians from the platform, wherever they might live. Fun times.
Russia has a history of intense state surveilance und state sponsored hacking. Pair that with immense corruption and an authoritarian law system.
Do I think that the USA does the same and is allready in our system? Yes, though a bit less likely and more 'with an option to'.
But the big difference is, that we are formally on the same side and I do not have to fear my systems to be made into a Spam-Bot network that undermines individualism and western ideas of freedom.
well never meant anything against russians, but it's really hard not to go russophobic here, after all the things russia has done during the last 2 years

"The slogan was riffed off a Wesley Willis track called, unsurprisingly, Whip The Llama’s Ass.
The clip became so popular that Winamp eventually adopted the Llama as its mascot, leading to the birth of Mike The Llama."

Lots of closed source Swift projects in the App Store and elsewhere.

Dude acts as if when it’s open source he conducts a code audit before installing anything.
xz just proves how dumb this mindset actually is.

I'm looking forward to everyone uninstalling Nginx.
