Ask HN: When will AI just be a free feature in most apps?

I kind of see the value in AI integrations. But I don't necessarily see the value in paying $10 a month to use it with Notion, Miro etc. when the core product is free.

When can we expect AI to just be free? Will AI ever become free, in the same sense that email is free?

AI is already free for a limited number of requests. In that sense free email style AI is already there.
I feel that's a bit like saying that you can only send and receive X number of emails, or only create X number of sticky notes in Miro. It's inherently prohibitive to the core idea of the product.
The good AI models that we have now are pretty expensive to run.
It will become "free" when some combination of the following happen:

a) it becomes [practically] free to run

b) advertising and/or subscriptions provide enough overhead to run the rest of it "for free" (see point (a))
