Ask HN: How is solar eclipse viewed in your culture?

How is the solar eclipse viewed in your culture? Many, especially vedic and east asian cultures view it as the marking of a cycle (beginning or end). We know this because in the past major wars have occurred after a solar eclipse cycle.

I'm curious to know how it is perceived across cultures (outside of secular views).
