Ask HN: Career risks at controversial companies for common developers

Hi!

I would like to ask you whether working in a company where the CEO is under sanctions can affect common developer? Or in case the company itself is under sanctions. For example, in the future, a resume might be screened out at the screening stage.

Seems unlikely unless the company has a very high profile, and even then I don't think anyone blames the rank and file for executive-level offenses. Most of the big tech companies have constant investigations and fines imposed. Google and Tesla have ongoing discrimination lawsuits but I doubt that affects their developers looking for jobs.

If you have knowledge of or participate in something you know to be illegal that makes the news, that may come back on you.
