This is the mentality that they desperately want you to have. Their game plan is to push more and more laws like this until we are too exhausted to push back. First ACTA then FISA and now RISAA. If you roll over and say "well they're gonna do it anyway so what's the point of fighting", you've let them win. If we all took this approach then the internet would come apart at the seams. Stand up for what's right and take action, otherwise you lose your right to complain about the consequences.
It is true that modern leaders in many western nations are completely free of consequences for their behavior. Still, having it black on white that the behavior is illegal is a bonus. Although even constitutions didn't stop the crime.
I like how we already had a few iterations of this nonsense (eg ACTA) and it just keeps coming back. It's as if the political class doesn't give a shit about what the population wants and just want to win through exhaustion.
Fuck these politicians.
This is why protesting and opposing these things is a flawed strategy and destined for failure. You have to win every time, whereas they only have to win once.

[ 3.1 ms ] story [ 36.8 ms ] threadWe can tell our elected leaders all we want but nothing is going to happen. The forbidden fruit is just too good.
The best we can do, in the US, is try voting in new, younger, people who grew up using the internet and understand it.
Laws without enforcement are pointless.
But it’s just theater
The only solution is a tree of liberty pruning.
I'm serious, when do they actually do anything except talk about space lasers and shill for Putin?
