I think the headline is right for the wrong reasons.
I assume the point is that the letters U T and C are not in that order in either the French or English full name, as detailed in the Etymology section of the article.
However, true pedants will know that to be an acronym it should be pronounced like a word, like SCUBA, not individual letters like FBI which are sometimes called initialisms or alphabetisms.
