Throughout my "life" in the internet, I've seen this gone from being envied and should be imitated, to something that should be avoided (you're being exploited!!). Maybe it's just a function of communities I gone through as I got older.
Or people realize that work ethic is neither always necessary nor always sufficient for good pay. That is there's situations in all four quadrants: hard work (yes/no), good pay (yes/no)
