tonedet is a wonderful little software that does exactly that.

it stays in the background and detects if a specific tone is heard and just runs an exe.

I am asking if a similar functionality exists in linux world so that i can run some automation based on sound, like from a bell or some alarm in the room or door opening and closing and stuff like that
