1. These were anti-Israel Jewish protestors.

2. They “shut down a major thoroughfare.”

Seems fine.

I kind of understand how the 2nd point, "shut down a major thoroughfare.”, would lead to your conclusion, "seems fine", but I fail to understand what the 1st point has anything to do with it. Could you please help me understand? In the article, the protestors are labeled as "anti-war" protestors, and even though the specific war they are protesting involves Israel, I would not necessarily label them as "anti-Israel".
Sorry, that was a bit steam of consciousness. The first point was just something I thought was interesting and surprising. Didn’t have much to do with my conclusion that locking them up seems fine.
Anti current Israeli government and specific policies. Not anti-Israel. Big difference that is missed in a lot of the other protests.
Earlier today a post by a Jewish student at Columbia University got 36 upvotes and was promptly flagged to oblivion:

I'm guessing the same will happen here.

It seems like a lot of people don't want to hear that not all of the American Jewish community supports Israel's current actions without question, and that the consequences to protesters have been completely out of proportion (including arrests and evictions of students).

You can just read the endless explanations of what happens to such stories instead of making one up some sinister one with no evidence.

I am very curious to see how much this news spreads, since I have been in a lot of discussions that doing anything like this gets immediacy shut down as being "anti-semitic". And yet, I can't imagine anyone with a straight face will actually try to claim someone who is jewish is anti-semitic.

I do find it concerning that it seems like we are using a lot more force for anyone protesting this (see the stuff with colleges yesterday) than normal? Or is it just getting more attention?

> try to claim someone who is jewish is anti-semitic

the "self deprecating jew" trope gets thrown around more and more often these days

Actually the demonstrators are worried because of the antisemitism that the actions of the Israeli government incite:

> "Our Judaism cannot be protected by the rampaging military of that ethno-state, for all that military does is sow sorrow and reap hatred, including hatred against us as Jews."

The Guardian and the right wing of the Labour party in the UK went through the looking glass of calling Jewish people anti-semitic a long time ago.
