"Changpeng Zhao, the founder and former CEO of Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency trading platform, was sentenced in Seattle on Tuesday to four months in prison for failing to prevent money laundering on the exchange."

Note that "in Seattle" is just the geography, not the jurisdiction. It's a federal court case for a violation of federal law.

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time. In this case that amounts to $10 billion per month of jail time (net worth $40 billion). Unlikely to actually serve time I bet and he still keeps all his money. Crime pays very well.
