Ask HN: What about a "Who wants funding" thread?

Hey everyone, I have been working full-time on my product for a few months now. My friend is joining me full-time from today. I saw the "Who is hiring" thread and I know of the "Who wants to be hired" thread.

I thought I have not come across a "Who wants funding" thread. It may or may not work out but I felt HN is perhaps a good place for this. A monthly thread has this temporal/vanishing feeling which I really like. It needs effort to structure a comment (of course this can be copy/pasted) but perhaps people can improve their pitch? Has this been tried before or does it exist elsewhere?

The monthly hiring threads are already an exception to the way HN works and adding more is probably not a great fit - you'd have to convince the mods and I think they've sensibly been resistant to more of these. Plus YC itself is one giant 'who wants to be funded' operation.

That's all orthogonal to the merits of the idea itself, it's just likely going to be uphill trying to squeeze it into HN.

Yea, that’s kinda what I thought when I saw this question, YC is basically all about getting startups funded, hn is basically in service of that goal, creating a thread specifically to compete with yc doesn’t seem like something hn would do.

I don't think it's the compete-with-ness but the repetitiveness and the not-that-interestingness.
