some entity more powerful then google, apple, and amazon combined was able to dictate actions these 3 were to take near immediately. Which they did do.

This on its own indicates the need to decentralize social media.

Previously unchallenged authority? Yes well we saw the censorship of anyone who challenged this authority.

Lets discuss the real problem here. Some entity played their hand too hard, the narrative has now been lost and this is why reddit and others are suddenly working so hard at 'reintegrating' viewpoints. It's so decentralized that limited resources of public health can't possibly maintain their unchallenged authority. worse yet, quite a large portion of public health initiatives depend upon this existing.
